MOLYSEAL FROM THE DYNAMIC SEALING EXPERTS. MOLYSEAL HAS A FLAT GREY FINISH AND NEVER NEEDS TO BE RETORQUED. PROBLEM: HEAD GASKETS USED IN BI-METAL ENGINE APPLICATIONS ARE SUBJECT TO SCUFFING CAUSED BY THE VAST DIFFERENCES IN THE THERMAL EXPANSION RATES OF THE ALUMINUM HEAD AND CAST IRON BLOCK. THIS SHEARING ACTION, IN EXTREME CASES, WILL CAUSE DELAMINATION OF THE PAPER OF GRAPHITE OR, IF SEVERE ENOUGH, WILL BREAK PERFORATED CORES OR DESTROY THE ADHESIVE BOND IN THE CASE OF SOLID CORE GASKETS. SOLUTION: A COATING INCORPORATING MOLYBDENUM DISULFIDE, PTFE (TEFLON) AND A BINDER SYSTEM. THIS COATING, CALLED MOLYSEAL BY ROL GASKETS, IS UTILIZED IN HEAVY DUTY APPLICATIONS AND ON BI-METAL ENGINES WITH EXTREME UNEVEN THERMAL EXPANSION BETWEEN THE ALUMINUM CYLINDER HEADS AND THE CAST IRON BLOCK. MOLYSEAL OFFERS MAXIMUM LUBRICITY WHILE MAINTAINING THE INTEGRITY OF THE GASKET SEAL.
